Expansion Segments

Three NC operator segments adjacent to family care homes.

Updated August 2026 · Wave 3 Research · 3-minute read

CareTrack's Wave 3 expansion research brief identified the top three adjacent NC operator segments that face the same per-staff compliance-tracking problem family care homes do — adult day care, group homes, and in-home aide agencies. Each has its own NC licensing body and public roster.

1

Adult day care & adult day health.

Adult day health programs serve older and disabled adults daytime hours while caregivers work, with structured health, medication, nutrition, and activity services — typically licensed at the county level under NC DHSR's NC Medical Care Commission (NCMCC). The compliance calendar problem is the same one family care homes have: each participant touchpoint needs attendance, medication-pass, and incident logs; each staff member needs CPR, medication aide, and food-service credentials tracked individually with expirations firing reminders to the program director before they lapse.

Group homes (10A NCAC 27G).

NC group homes — for adults or children with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorder — are licensed under 10A NCAC 27G rules by the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (DMH/DD/SAS) with day-to-day licensure recordkeeping run by the NC DHSR Mental Health Licensure & Certification Section. The cadence is heavier: quarterly peer reviews, individual service plan updates, seclusion/restraint logs, and an extensive list of annual staff trainings — all schedule-sensitive — making it the segment where the CareTrack calendar would retire the most operator hours.

In-home aide & HCBS / personal care agencies.

In-home aide agencies carry their own dossier: Medicaid personal-care-services enrollment, HCBS provider registry checks, supervisor-to-aide field observations, criminal background checks on every aide before first visit, and a flat monthly roster audit. The bodies that publish the canonical provider lists live under the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services (NC DAAS, part of NCDHHS), which runs the HCBS / PCS programs and the NC Innovations and Traumatic Brain Injury waiver provider registries. CareTrack would carry that scheduling load — same alerts, same pretrained template, different service code.

What each segment shares with family care homes is the core compliance-load shape: small operator team, license-specific training and inspection cadence, per-staff credential rotation, and a portfolio of reports each operator is the single point of accountability for. The Wave 3 expansion research brief graded each of these three segments as a strong CareTrack adjacency — same calendar engine, same alert cadence, different service-code mapping.

If your segment needs the same calendar, the waitlist is the on-ramp.

Operators from these three segments tell us which service-code mapping to ship first. Joining the waitlist puts your segment at the top of the Wave 3 build queue.

  • Same calendar engine as family care homes — different service-code mapping
  • 60/30/14-day credential expiration alerts already proven in NC family care homes
  • Per-staff credential rotation and supervisor escalation rules built in
  • Public research roster link on every card — open in NC government
